In a few months time the Connect Brunch will be born as a way to build business connections, increase business awareness and obtain attendance of those businesses which are serious about what it is they do, and what it is they are after. 
The networking and business exhibition debate looms ever more; in that do such things attract any business? Do the right people turn up to such events? No-one will ever settle on a common ground because everyone's views are different.

The very first Connect WM Business Exhibition took place on the 27th February 2013 having originally chosen The Clarendon Suites  for its location for ease of parking, its central locality and ease of access within the building itself.
At the point of booking, and in fact right to the exhibition day itself we had only really ever dealt with The Clarendon Suites General Manager Diane Hennessy who was first class in her understanding, her guidance as to how best  layout of the exhibition hall, and use of further rooms within the venues whole facility.

Local Businesses can only grow with Quality over Quantity

Some may know that the whole Connect WM ethos is trying to find the right businesses for each other to be able to work together which in turn provides either a positive midterm result or long term working relationship.
We set up our first Connect WM business exhibition solely with this in mind and did not allow any cross over’s of exhibitor main service trading areas.

Forwardline Events organise The Business Show 2012 Midlands

Forwardline Marketing Ltd as the name suggests are a marketing company based over in Rugeley, Staffordshire and has been operating for a number of years. Recently they added an addition to their business, a service to incorporate events calling this aspect of their business Forward Events through which they are looking to host and promote events up and down the country.
 
Last Friday (15/06/2012) saw them hold their first event, held at the Aston Villa Football Ground and incorporated a business exhibition, multiple seminars and speed networking.

As a business, do you CONNECT to Events in the West Midlands?

There are many business related events, which happen throughout the West Midlands region on a monthly basis. Such events offer the ability for local businesses to engage in many things such as networking, training as well as identifying who might be potential customers.

There seems to be a new trend occurring at networking meetings, well to be honest it may not be new at all just that we haven’t really noticed before as it’s been a while for us since attending some networking meetings.
 
What we’re referring to, is the apparent ignorance of some people at networking meetings who seem to think that they have a right to barge into the middle of a conversation without even a “sorry” or “excuse me”.
 
One example while attending a networking event in the middle of Birmingham only last week, saw us talking to someone we’d never met before and we were engaging in polite chit chat as you do.

Birmingham Energy Savers working towards helping households

This morning saw members of the Connect WM and its sister company Squashed Bills attend a meeting hosted by Sustainability WM at the Council House in Victoria Square.
 
Lasting about 2 hours the meeting centred on how best to move forward with the Birmingham Energy Savers project which is the first of its kind in the UK.
 
With 3 main areas of discussion it ultimately boiled down to how best to Connect Birmingham households to the notion of buying into the Green Deal in order to make their household more ECO friendly.

It’s the here and now that counts

Many businesses, especially new start ups it could be argued need to plan more for the future in terms of how they operate and as to what direction their ultimately heading towards.
 
However with all the perceived excitement of owning or running your business the planning for most turns into day dreaming, thinking that they can be all conquering, that they have what it takes to be the best, believing that their better than anyone else…!
 
The stark reality is that they can’t, don’t and aren’t.

Chamber Networking at the Paragon Hotel

Last Friday saw us attend the regular monthly networking event which this time round was held at the Paragon Hotel formerly known some years back as the Chamberlain Hotel.
 
For the Birmingham Chambers first monthly event of 2012 it seemed well organised as well as did the  Paragon Hotel and its staff - well organised and prepared to cater for the event.
 
Yet just like in 2011, 2010, 2009……… it never seems to amaze that whilst the event was being held for the benefit of members and the many small businesses within the Midlands, and still there are those business folk that perhaps despite of any New Year resolutions to do things differently, they ...

The Jury was in for the Birmingham Chamber Networking event

Yesterday the Jury’s Inn which is located on Birmingham’s Broad Street hosted the latest Birmingham Chamber Networking event which allowed local businesses to turn up as delegates and engage with other delegates and event exhibitors.
 
The attendance to the event seemed quite good and although hard to explain it had a different feel to it when compared to other local events in the West Midlands. It seemed that a vast majority of attendees who turned up seemed to be suited and booted, some would say they were more of a corporate type person although that was not the case when actually speaking to people and find out what it was they do and where they work.
