Do you find it hard to connect to the day?

Do you find it hard to connect to the day?

We all have our good days and our bad, many of us fire-fight the problems and we don’t really get the opportunity to have a fresh outlook on what needs to be done during the day which would actually be of any benefit to the business.

Being able to connect to the working day is paramount for any business whether they are small, medium or large.

Although not everyone’s cup of tea one way to work towards clearing the head and taking time to think, is to take up running or even walking for the less enthusiastic among us.

By running - although painful if not used to it, helps to get the adrenalin pumping, it moves oxygen around the body and more importantly into the head and brain.

If it helps to disguise the dread, such physical exercise should be looked at as a form of business training.

If ever you adopt the approach of running to clear the mind, you of course need to bear in mind that it will not work overnight, it’s something which needs to be done regularly, say every morning before work, or evening after work.

Carve out a set course and stick to it, if you have never done it before the first time you may feel dizzy, taste blood in the mouth, and have the same dry throat feeling you had when doing cross country at school – but if you can persevere.

As mentioned if running is not your cup of tea then still set out a route to walk, but do it regularly.

Sandwell Council is running a programme called ‘Walk Well’ which basically consists of registering with the 14-week programme – whereby on the first day of the programme they will weigh you, take measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, and BPI.

You’ll then fill out a questionnaire as to how your feeling generally, they’ll give you a stepo meter and then off you go and walk to your heart’s content.

The aim is that over the period of the programme you hit an average of 10,000 steps a day – which apparently would be the same distance as Beijing to London.

At the end of the programme, you are called back, and again they will ask you questions and take measurements and if there is an improvement you will be rewarded with vouchers to spend up to a maximum of £40.

After a short space of time whether you’re running or walking around the block, you should start to find that you will see a benefit in your outlook and well being.

Sitting constantly behind a desk or the wheel of a car and not eating at regular intervals is not good for you, however, if you follow some simple steps you may just start to realise that your ability to connect to the day quicker and better than you have ever before.

If you connect with determination, then it may just help you to connect your business.
