Two of the leading international voices in psychology will be sharing the secrets of their success to SME leaders across the West Midlands later this month.
Jamil Qureshi and Professor Adrian Furnham – as well as award-winning SMEs Volumatic Limited and Professional Polishing – will be hosting discussions at ‘Positive Psychology in SMEs’, a free programme set up by Aston Business School to offer advice to businesses in the region with fewer than 250 employees to help them grow.
Hosted at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens on Wednesday, January 28, Qureshi will reveal the techniques which have seen six of his clients – including Premier League football clubs and world number one golfer Rory McIlroy – reach the summit in their respective sports.
One of the most prominent practitioners of performance-enhancing psychology, Qureshi challenges businesses and people to think differently in order to gain an advantage and will share a practical understanding of how to create positive change through different perspectives.
A Professor of Psychology at University College London, Furnham is also a Financial Times and The Sunday Times columnist who has written over 1,000 scientific papers and 70 books He talk will have three themes: managing change in turbulent times, motivation in the workplace and the psychology of money.
A discussion with award-winning SMEs will follow as Juliette Summerfield, finance and operations director at Volumatic Limited, and Kirsty Davies-Chinnock, managing director at Professional Polishing, will share their experiences and demonstrate how their businesses can relate to the content of the talks.
Hosted by Dr Michael JR Butler, Reader in Transformational Change at Aston University, the event is part of Aston Business School’s Transformation for Growth project which delivers support to aspiring businesses in the West Midlands with fewer than 250 employees and turnover up to €50m or a balance sheet up to €43m. The project is supported through the European Regional Development Fund.
