Sights Set High As Showhome Declared ‘Open for Business’

Apartments at Walsall’s tallest building are now nearing completion, as development bosses have declared the very first show home now ‘open for business’.

The contemporary selection of 145 one and two-bedroom apartments at the landmark Tameway Tower, in Bridge Street, were brought to fruition by developers at Tameway (Midlands) in this regeneration project.

Arran Bailey, managing director of Tameway (Midlands), said: “We are pleased to reveal that the first showhome is now available for viewings, and we are looking forward to our official grand opening ahead of schedule.”

Mr Bailey previously described how the building had been “in need of a revamp for some time” and added: “We are confident that we have a scheme which will be of benefit to Walsall. It will breathe new life into that area and create footfall.”

Tameway Tower is 14 floors tall and was originally built as office accommodation in the 1970s. Part of the ground floor of the scheme will continue to be occupied as offices.

Work on the regeneration of the building began in May last year and saw Tameway (Midlands) join forces with property investment firm Prosperity Wealth, following two previous successful projects for the companies in Derby and Dudley.

Joe Billingham, CEO at Prosperity Wealth, said: “The appetite for apartments at Tameway Tower has been tremendous, both from owner occupiers and the investor market.

“Benefitting from the continued rental demand we are seeing across Walsall and the Midlands, Tameway Tower is an excellent example of good value, high yielding property, in a commuter town that’s reinventing itself.”

The scheme had been given the green light by Walsall planners in September 2017.

The long-awaited unveiling of the show home comes after the building had previously been subject to a bid which would have seen the site transformed into 119 flats. However, those plans never got off the ground and Tameway Midlands stepped in to make the redevelopment a reality.
