Circle Events Network is a growing micro business specialising in local event management. They approached Graduate Advantage as they required a voluntary intern to support and assist with the marketing of events and help to raise awareness through their social media channels. The aim of the internship was to increase their client database.
Circle Events Network is relatively new to the event management industry in the West Midlands. Alastair Brookes, owner of Circle Events Network said, "Due to the size of the company and type of role available, I thought it would be a great opportunity for a new graduate to gain commercial experience in event management."
During her internship Anisha carried out a range of tasks such as preparing delegate lists and researching potential exhibitors for forthcoming events. She engaged with delegates and exhibitors through social media and researched competitor websites to see what other local events were available for their target market. Anisha was also given the opportunity to assist with the planning and promotion of events, inviting delegates and exhibitors. She attended the events, assisting with the layout as well as registering and meeting attendees. Being part of the whole process from start to finish enabled her to experience the success of the events.
Alistair said, "Anisha has had a major input into our social media, her work here has meant that we are consistently engaging more with clients and in result this has increased followers/ connections on our Twitter and LinkedIn accounts. Her input when discussing new keywords for SEO have been invaluable in such a competitive market. This is something that we will be working on going forward.
Working with Anisha has raised our company profile on social networks, which has meant that our social media strategy has really got going. This has increased our delegate and exhibitor engagement in a very positive way."
Alastair advised "When I knew I was going to bring a graduate into the business I planned ahead. I put together a structure for the internship, what the graduate would gain and the support required from day one. I feel this has enabled us both to benefit greatly from the experience.
Following on from her experience in increasing Circle's social media profiles, Anisha has started a BTEC in Social Media. She is able to use her internship to put theory into practice and provide specific examples in her coursework regarding business related social networks.
Speaking about her internship Anisha commented "I found this an invaluable experience and it has given me a real understanding of how events come together, as well as developing my confidence and communication skills."
