Budding Gardeners Gain Inisght into Horticulture Courses & Careers

Birmingham Metropolitan College (BMet) is offering budding gardeners an insight into careers in horticulture at a free event being held at its Birmingham Botanical Gardens Academy.  The careers event is being held on Tuesday 3rd March at 5.30 pm in BMet’s training academy on Westbourne Road in Edgbaston.

Bridgett Byrne, Director of Schools at BMet, said:  “We’re offering school leavers and adults the chance to get a glimpse of the kinds of careers they can pursue if they study one of our horticulture courses run in Birmingham’s famous, historical gardens.  The UK’s horticultural industry is worth over  £9 billion, employing over 200,000 people.  Our students benefit from gaining practical skills whilst at the same time getting hands on experience of studying in one of Birmingham’s most beautiful landscape settings.”

The Horticulture Academy was developed in partnership with Birmingham Botanical Gardens and delivers horticulture, floristry and environmental conservation training to over 200 students each year. Day, evening and weekend courses include Horticulture, Countryside and Environment Management, Landscaping, Sports Turf, Parks, Gardens and Green Space as well as Floristry and Trees and Timber.
